Detailed description (English): • EUROPEAN MOBILITY WEEK Launch Event - Saturday 17th September – BMX stunt demonstrations, shows throughout the day.
• Personal Route Planning – Local experts available to help individuals work out the best route for them either to or from work or for any other journey. Experts will have knowledge of cycling infrastructure in Falkirk and be experienced in cycling and walking in the area. (Personal travel plans based on these routes will be available to print off and take away or to be emailed to individuals for use in the future).
• Employer Route Planning – As above but for businesses and other organisations in the BID area.
• Accompanied Commutes – We will provide staff within the space in Falkirk High Street who will be available to discuss commute plans and provide support and guidance where needed. On a pre booking basis these staff will be able to meet commuters and cycle their planned route with them if required.
• Dr Bike Sessions – Free safety checks and minor repairs done on site to make sure people’s bikes are safe and usable.
• Series of Meanders (short distance/slow pace Led Rides aimed at older people or people who do not cycle often).
• Free hire of bikes for the week for people wishing to try cycle commuting.
• Secure town centre bike parking for the week including bike cleaning service.
• Free trials of electric bikes.
• Evening bike maintenance lessons available by pre-booking.
• Big Bike Revival workshops throughout the week.
• Big Bike Bonanza – closing event – a led ride from ‘The Kelpies/Helix Park’ to Falkirk town centre. This aspect has to be the main element of the short film, where we will encourage as many cyclists as possible to cycle through the High Street. We will be asking participants to enter either by dropping in to the space, or by entering via Facebook. The Big Bike Bonanza event will increase awareness of cycling and active travel in Falkirk and generate publicity.
Target group(s): All users' of the town centre, including; visitors, residents and employees.
Objectives: Falkirk Delivers intend to involve local businesses by:
• Creating a social media campaign,
• Before and after surveys,
• One to one business visits,
• Providing information on sustainable active travel and;
• Encouraging employee participation throughout MOBILITY WEEK.
Falkirk Delivers campaign strategies are:
• To create awareness through on-line marketing, including digital advertising, website updates and social media campaigns.
• To encourage visitors and the business community to take advantage of the information being provided.
• Reinforce the message with relevant advertising.
• To create awareness through local press coverage of the campaign in general and community engagement interest stories, in particular.
• To host community engagement events to promote message.
Expected Outcomes: • Raise public awareness and to create awareness of sustainable active travel.
• To raise awareness with local businesses of ways in which they can support their employees.
• To improve the health and travel habits of town centre users
Partner: Throughout the project, we will work closely with other partners, for example with Forth Environment Link who are an environmental charity working in the Forth Valley area, and will be the main delivery partner in conjunction with Falkirk Delivers. Stirling Cycle Hub is a project of Forth Environment Links and will also be working on the delivery of the project. Discussions have already taken place with the Dawson Bike Club, Recyke-A-bike, Forth Valley College and we will endeavour to bring on board as many other organisations with an interest in increasing active travel in Falkirk as possible.
Other partners will include the Falkirk Herald and Central FM who will support by covering the campaign locally.
