Detailed description (English): Many activities were done, like a Bike ride in Parque Tangamanga lead by the Social Sciences and Humanity Faculty, the Intercultural Bike Ride “Unirodada Intercultural” lead by the multidisciplinary environmental sciences post grade program (PMPCA) with the potosinian university federation (FUP).
The fourth edition of the slowest cyclist race in San Luis “Slow Race” was carried out in Museo Laberinto de las Ciencias y las Artes and the Psychology Faculty.
On September the fourteenth Urban Mobility Forum was organized by Professor-researchers of the Habitat Faculty with a nourished participation of the general public, civil society organizations, functionaries and academics.
The “Spatial Analysis Workshop” of public transport in San Luis Potosí and the Modal Challenge “Desafío modal” carried out by Colectivo Vida Sobre Ruedas included activities that invited us to reflect and discuss the need of better management of urban mobility. “Parking Day” was an activity in which parking places in public spaces were transformed to dimension how these could be exploited if they were not intended for cars. Awareness of the law, protection and correct use of the streets, was the theme of the lecture on “Urban Mobility Legality”.
The Multidisciplinary Academic Unit Zona Huasteca, through the University Environmental Unit (UAU), managed to implement the “Car Free Day”, promoting the use of public transport, cycling and “Autocompartido” a Car-Sharing program celebrated on that day; “Autocompartido” was also presented as a viable proposal for the University community of the Academic Unit Zona Media which will be implemented as a measure of sustainable mobility. The Auto-Sharing Program encourages car users to share their car with friends that already have similar routes and destinations, and are rewarded with a preferential parking space.
Sharing the car and biking as a transportation medium reduces traffic chaos and CO2 emissions to the atmosphere, so it is important to encourage these practices. Therefore the workshop “Fix your bike” helped users to have basic bike repairing skills for improving their transport.
Among the artistic and cultural activities that were part of the Month of Sustainable Mobility, the workshop “El arte de pedalear” The art of pedaling stood out, this was shared in the Zona Media and in the Zona Universitaria (Unitecho); in it, the participants developed a sound piece inspired by the use of bicycles, these pieces can be listened on our web page: http://ambiental.uaslp.mx/MMUS/IndMMUS2016Res.asp
The closing of the month took place on Friday 23 September with an exhibition of past and present works and achievements and a safety kit was raffled.
