Detailed description (English): At STORM Eindhoven, our non-profit student team from the Netherlands (Eindhoven Univeristy of technology), we believe that to stop climate change clean mobility is key. We have set ourselves to transmit that message to the world.
We have developed the first electric touring motorcycle with which we want to prove that electric vehicles are not futuristic, but ready know. The vehicle was built-up from scratch, with an innovative modular battery pack (range 380km!). The ultimate challenge: ride our innovative electric motorcycle around the world within 80 days from Europe to China and through the US. This Jules Verne inspired STORM World Tour will be without local emissions: each day the existing electricity grid is used for recharging the batteries. It enables us to involve local universities, individuals and companies, who can experience sustainable mobility while supporting STORM with power. Local events on differing topics (e-mobility, student innovation, sustainable development) are organized to inspire even those in less developed countries (Iran, Kirghistan, etc), especially the youth (education kits). To reach even more people, the full STORM World Tour will be filmed, and produced into a tv series (by the emmy award winning FCCE).
The STORM World tour starts on august the 14th in Eindhoven. The team of 23 students has put more than 2 years of their time into the project (started September 2014), on voluntarily basis. At this moment, the motorcycles are almost finished, and the world tour is for the largest part planned. We are now contacting the last universities to recharge our batteries at. The second of November is the finish lap, where we hope to conclude our project with a world record on the longest parade of electric vehicles.
Target group(s): Broad target group: aiming to show as many people as possible the potential of e-mobility. Example: students, local government, motorcyclists, companies in the field of mobility.
Objectives: Stimulating people to drive/ride electrically or invest in new transportation.
Expected Outcomes: 40 visits to local recharge points, 15 visits to educational institutes (inc presentations), 4 trade missions, weekly visibility in national Dutch media, weekly visibility in local media.
