Participation 2006

The participant is committed to:

Organising a week of activities, taking into account the focal theme.
Actions relative to the theme:
An exhibition will be done at the Metropolitan Cultural Centre, about motorised vehicles use, fuel quality, emissions and climate change.
Climate change will also be a very important issue to discuss during the forum "Quality of air in Quito"
Carrying out a Car-Free Day event by closing one or more streets to traffic, and opening it to pedestrians, cyclists and public transport. This should preferably happen on 22 September to mark your town or city as part of World Car-Free Day.
Zone opened to residents on Car-Free Day:
We propose to restrict three city points to private car. One within the main tourist services and entertainment zone in the city core. The second at the south of the city in a very crowded street where working people use to have lunch and dinner. The third zone is the historical centre of Quito, the largest Cultural World Site in Latin America.
