Activities within the week
Říčany organises activities during EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK 2006, taking into account the annual theme.
All week
On Thursday, children from elementary schools together with Ekocentrum planted seven new trees in the playground as a contribution to this year’s “Protect the Earth’s climate“ campaign. One tree annually absorbs approximately 6 kilograms of carbon dioxide.
On Tuesday in the senior home a member of the municipality police discussed with the seniors about their problems in traffic and when using city mass transport.
Car-free day
Říčany carries out a Car-Free Day 2006 and closes off one or more streets to traffic, and opens it to pedestrians, cyclists and public transport.
Zone opened to residents on Car-Free Day:
A happening took place on Friday 22 September on Masaryk Square, which was closed off for the occasion. The happening was organised by Ekocentrum and Klub Cesta. The organisers prepared a range of competitions for children on the topic of safe transport and evaluated questionnaires on the way children commute to school. This was organised and secured by the Community Centre.
This day the Children’s patrols from Klub Cesta in cooperation with the municipality and national police took to the main roads through the city where they measured the speed of passing vehicles, inspected first-aid kits, completed questionnaires with pedestrians and drivers and talked with drivers. A hybrid drive vehicle was displayed on the square - the LEXUS RX400h from TOYOTA.
Bus transport was free in Řícany for the entire day.
