Permanent measures
Ferrara implements one or more new permanent measure(s), which contribute(s) to modal transfer from private car to environmentally sound means of transport.

During press conferences and events will be launched:
- the new Public Transport lines and other permanent services (taxibus)
- the new Sustainable Mobility and Tourism City Map
- the "Pink Parking" areas, reserved to pregnant and baby-accompaigned women
- the programme "SOS friends of children" designed with local shop tenders for a safe mobility of children alone
- the programma "I enter by bike", bus+public bikes system for commuters
- the new private car hyper-restricted area in the monumental area
- the Pedibus system, gathering and accompaigning of children in the home-to-school trip
- extension of City pollution control measures to Ferrara boundaries municipalities
Car-free day
Ferrara carries out a Car-Free Day 2006 and closes off one or more streets to traffic, and opens it to pedestrians, cyclists and public transport.
Zone opened to residents on Car-Free Day:
All historical centre of the City (UNESCO Heritage) will be closed to private car - but accessible by public transport buses for free the whole day - from 9.00 to 12.00 and from 15.00 to 18.00. In total about 5.300.000 sqm.
