Zone opened to residents on Car-Free Day:
On Friday 22 September, Přemysl Otakar II square was closed in the city. The morning programme was reserved for children from kindergartens and elementary schools. The classes, which returned collected Green Footprints and Big Green Footprints, received a diploma. All children received a start card for competing and playing games on the square and were remunerated at the finish. In the afternoon, the event focused on the education of high school students and the public. European Car Free Day was concluded by a mass bike ride through the city which symbolically finished back on the closed square, where the information and consultancy stands of various organizations were open all day long.
At noon, the organizers drew bus tickets and coupons and the winners received a monthly bus ticket. Anyone who purchased an annual bus ticket for public transport received a 10% discount from the city transport company.
