Participation 2007

The participant is committed to:

Organising a week of activities, taking into account the focal theme.
Actions relative to the theme:
1. Relocation of traffic
2. Construction of pedestrian walkways and cycling tracks
3. City as a place for getting together and shopping
4. Enlargement of the green areas
5. Closed streets near by schools and kindergartens
6. Using public transport as a cheaper transport mean
Carrying out a Car-Free Day event by closing one or more streets to traffic, and opening it to pedestrians, cyclists and public transport. This should preferably happen on 22 September to mark your town or city as part of World Car-Free Day.
Zone opened to residents on Car-Free Day:
On September 22 Central Square in City of Ivanic-Grad will be closed for motorized traffic. According to new Urbanistic Plann, limited zone restricted to the private cars will be permanent after Square reconstruction in 2008.
Implementing one or more new permanent measure(s), which contribute(s) to modal transfer from private car to environmentally sound means of transport.
Permanent measures implemented this year:
New or improved bicycle facilities
  • Improvement of bicycle network (creation of new lanes, extension, renovation, signposting etc)
  • Develop public bicycle hiring and sharing systems
Pedestrianisation
  • Create or enlarge pedestrian streets
  • Extension or creation of new greenways
Public transport services
  • Improvement and extension of the public transport network (creation of HOV lanes for public transport modes, new stops, new lines, reserved areas etc)
  • Launch of integrated services for the various public transport modes
  • The development of accessible transport services for all
Traffic calming and access control scheme
  • Speed reduction programmes in zones near schools
  • Reduction of outside parking zones
  • Create park and ride stations
Accessibilities
  • Removal of architectonic barriers
  • Launch of accessibility plans
  • Create useful tool for people with reduced mobility
New forms of vehicle use and ownership
