City of London organises activities during EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK 2009, taking into account the annual theme.

All week
The City of London's goal for mobility week is different than most boroughs. Because vehicle use is not a big problem in the City of London we've decided to focus our mobility emphasis on cycling and walking as modes of transport. We will be offering: 1) bike to work day free healthy breakfast by Whole Foods Market, and free bicycle maintenance along with other goodies, 2) walk to work photo competition and information from Living Streets the national walking charity, 3) climate awareness activities on Green Day, 4) Health awareness with Cancer Research UK, 5) Cycling Forum where city officials, police, and Transport for London will discuss new cycling initiatives in the City, 6) A chance to congregate with other cyclists at movie night where a cycling film and a recent film on climate change will be shown, 7) Kids day will get the young people informed on safe road skills and other informative activities.

Car-free day Car-free day

City of London carries out a Car-Free Day 2009 and closes off one or more streets to traffic, and opens it to pedestrians, cyclists and public transport.

Zone opened to residents on Car-Free Day:
For our street closure we will not be having an additional closure but rather using the permanent street closure on Carter Lane early 2009 as our "closure". There will be events held on Carter Lane the 21st September promoting sustainable travel, health, and how people can do their part in reducing climate change.
