PROVINCIA DI ROMA organises activities during EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK 2011, taking into account the annual theme.

- The second edition of the invitation addressed to the municipalities of the province for the allocation of electric bikes for those who has the best cycling projects
-Donation of bicycle racks at 40 high schools in Rome and province, which have raised the need to provide alternative transportation to scooters and mini-cars for students
- - Launch of an invitation addressed to the municipalities for the allocation of electric shuttle buses for domestic travel agencies who will present the better plan to local public transport

Following the transfer of funds from Lazio Region to Province of Rome, we have drawn up, feasibility studies of six corridors and started the procedures for the construction of three corridors Laurentina-Fiumicino-Pantano.
We have signed a “Memorandum of Understanding” with Lazio Region and the Italian Railway Network to streamline the vehicular traffic and rail with the elimination of 11 level crossings, one of which is on site and three are already planned. Province of Rome will invest 14 million euros on this project..
By June 13 will start again the facilities of Province of Rome to purchase annual subscriptions Metrebus Lazio with a discount. The benefit for commuters will be applied on annual subscriptions zones integrated with a discount of 30% of full fare.
Can benefit from this facility fare system, unless they benefit from similar initiatives, residents in the municipalities of the Province of Rome, with personal income tax of up to € 22,000.00 per year. In 2010 about 18000 tickets facilitated were sold.

Our best practices in terms of mobility:

- we have set procedures to realize 26 car parks in exchange for 3400 cars, three of which have already been made;
- launched the 2010 campaign on road safety with the initiative: "SLOW-MACHINE No Country for Old Men", for the elderly who live in the Province of Rome which will distribute outside schools 500 thousand leaflets, designed by the cartoonist ElleKappa, on the theme of respect for the pedestrian and soft mobility, through the use of centres for the elderly scattered throughout the territory of the Province of Rome;
- opened the campaign on road safety with the 2010 'initiative "SAFE STREET", the first competition dedicated to young writers of high schools in Rome and province that provides for the design and implementation of a graffiti on road safety. The contract provides for the award of the first 4 winners, who will realize their sketches on the walls and win trips to New York and Paris. The following classified will be called to participate and create their own works on removable panels;
- financed the realization of a commercial titled "Restarting" and a feature film on road safety, fully realized by the students of a school in Frascati during a VIDEO WORKSHOP and was inducted into the programming of local televisions and won two national awards;
- promoted sustainable mobility through the creation of pedestrian paths in areas managed by Province of Rome and connected with protected areas (natural reserves of Monte Soratte Nomentum and the brushwood of Gattecieca and Barco);
- opened the " Window of sustainable mobility for municipalities" to give support, advice and information to towns territory’s technical and administrative and implementation of policies of sustainable mobility;
- set up at the "Provincial Observatory of Goods" that collects, at the same table, the actors and decision makers with the aim of formulating proposals that identify interventions that integrate the mobility of goods with an efficient mobility travellers and the achievement of its goals of sustainable mobility;
- in November 2009, we have delivered, to the municipality of Canterano, a 9 seats school-bus to drive children to school in Subiaco, with a free loan for one year, with possibility of renewal (the loan has been renewed for 2011);
- in March 20104, purchased coaches for the bus depot of Subiaco with a funding of EUR 480.000. These small buses allow easier access to the strategic traffic points of the territory and the interchange with the railway;
- in June 2010, we have presented a study conducted by the Mobility Manager of Province of Rome on commuting employees of the municipal territory. In light of the results obtained, the aim is to present and promote sustainable solutions to displacement, which discourage the use of private vehicles in favour of the public;
- we joined the European project "Catch_MR" (Cooperative Approaches to transport challenges in Metropolitan Regions) approved and funded by the European Commission in the 'field of the "INTERREG IV C". The project has a duration of three years (January 2010 - December 2012) and involves seven European countries: Germany - project leader - Hungary, Norway, Austria, Italy, Sweden and Slovenia;
- we won the Call for contributions for an experimental service shuttle company, announced by Municipality of Rome, within the competence of the Mobility Manager. The contribution of 98 000 euros was granted for two years. The service is currently in progress;
- we are evaluating projects that have been submitted by some municipalities and by some town council of City of Rome, to receive contributions for the purchase and installation of electric bicycles with pedal assistance, racks and charging stations.
On the 2nd of February 2011,we organized the conference "Common Transport", a new proposals for the creation of a single agency for mobility between Region-Province-Municipalities;
- we attended in a SEAP project (Sustainable Energy Action Plan) in partnership with the Councillorship Environment and we also participated in the project called "Managing the informed mobility" (GIM), in partnership with many other agencies, including Province of Milan identified as a leader. The project is the development of Info mobility services through instruments that allow for the monitoring analysis and monitoring of traffic flows generated in provincial areas, flock in large urban centres; within the activities of the Project (GIM), it is necessary to provide the '"Implementation of a platform for monitoring the saturation level of the road network developed on the integration of traditional and innovative detection systems (FVD)”. Currently, we proceeded to approve the establishment of the Commission for the evaluation of tender for the assignment in the experimental realization of that system.

PROVINCIA DI ROMA carries out a Car-Free Day 2011 and closes off one or more streets to traffic, and opens it to pedestrians, cyclists and public transport.
