Further info
During this year the Municipality of Arezzo has implemented permanent measures especially about cycling and pedestrian mobility.
In order to promote the use of bicycles in the city, has expanded the bicycle network creating new lanes linking the already existing paths; has activated a bike-sharing system (named "ARbike") installing in 8 different locations of the city 8 stations where pick up and delivery public bicycles (both traditional and assisted pedaling); has installed new bicycle racks, distributed in various areas of the city depending on demand; has opened a municipal office (named "Sportello della Bicicletta") to improve the existing bicycle network and to receive suggestions and comments from citizens.
In order to improve pedestrian accessibility and livability of the city's historic center, has increased areas dedicated exclusively to pedestrians, creating new pedestrian areas (piazza Sant’Agostino) and enlarging pavements along the boulevard in the city center ("Assi Ottocenteschi").
In addition, in order to reduce traffic and to restrict access to private cars in the city center, has created new semi-central parkings (parking "Mecenate" already opened and parking "San Donato Hospital" under construction) integrated with the bike-sharing system and with the buses of local public transport.

Car-free day Car-free day

Arezzo carries out a Car-Free Day 2011 and closes off one or more streets to traffic, and opens it to pedestrians, cyclists and public transport.
