Activities within the week Activities within the week

Velykyj Bereznyj organises activities during EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK 2011, taking into account the annual theme.

Main purpose of this year action is to inform public of Velykyj Bereznyj about the European Mobility Week and its goals and approaches. It is important to create awareness about this initiative and sensitize population towards the issue of urban mobility. During the week the focus will be on discussion with stakeholders of the issues of urban mobility, capacity building for youth to implement development actions, information dissemination among public, involvement of children to the creation of comfortable and friendly urban environment, promotion of the idea of positive changes in the urban mobility patterns.

Improvement of bicycle network (creation of new lanes, extension, renovation, signposting etc)

Car-free day Car-free day

Velykyj Bereznyj carries out a Car-Free Day 2011 and closes off one or more streets to traffic, and opens it to pedestrians, cyclists and public transport.

Zone opened to residents on Car-Free Day:
Zone restricted for the cars on 22nd of September is part of the street near the central park. Currently this street is not highly used, but there is an idea to try out pedestrialization of this street. That is why it is planned to close the street for the cars for the whole day, allowing children to play and participate in the competitions. Sport competition of the closed for cars street will be the main event during this day.
