Activities within the week Activities within the week

Burgas organises activities during EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK 2013, taking into account the annual theme.

All week
Burgas Municipality is organizing several activities relative to the theme.
During the entire week the mobile laboratory formeasuring the quality of the air in the city will open its doors to the citizens interested in how the air quality is measured and what the analsysis in different areas of the city show.
Also throughout the week an art installation called The Earth- our home will compare green city solutions to the most industrial zones of the Earth.
A green oazis will be situated in a city central place usually used by automobiles to show how urban spaces can be planned and used in smarter ways for the people rather than for the traffic.
In the weekend citizens of Burgas can practice fitness in urban areas with free open sessions of yoga,zumba and dance extreme.

Improvement of bicycle network (creation of new lanes, extension, renovation, signposting etc)

This year the city of Burgas has fully renovated its public transport bus system with 67 new low emission bus vehicles. Thus Burgas became the first city in Bulgaria to ever change its bus fleet at once.It has renovated 174 bus stops and constructed an overall of 10km new bicycle lanes. In addition this summer in June started functioning the first in the country pulic rent a bike system.
