Габрово (Gabrovo) implements one or more new permanent measure(s), which contribute(s) to modal transfer from private car to environmentally sound means of transport.

Conduct an info campaign among the citizens about air pollution (particularly fine particle pollution and their health effects) and the link between pollution and fuel usage in households.

Gabrovo has joined The Covenant of Mayors for local sustainable energy. It aims to reach the EU goals for reducing greenhouse emissions by at least 20%, energy consumption by 20%, as well as increasing the renewable energy usage by 20%.

Within the project „Creating attractive physical environment in Gabrovo by integrated measures for urban reconstruction and development” Gabrovo Municipality has created adequate conditions for recreation and relaxation at the open green spaces. The scope of the project includes 17 220 sq. meters green spaces, 12 230 sq. meters pavements and bicycle paths, 10 259 sq. meters reconstructed elements of street network, shaping and planting of 108 trees and 1615 bushes, rehabilitation of 3 existing and creation of 2 new children playgrounds, suitable for children with special needs too.

Within the project „Creating attractive physical environment in Gabrovo by integrated measures for urban reconstruction and development” it is foreseen that Marcotea Park will be reconstructed by creating new pedestrian and bicycle tracks, sport facilities and playgrounds. Two new pedestrian sidewalks along the river banks are going to be developed as well.

Car-free day Car-free day

Габрово (Gabrovo) carries out a Car-Free Day 2013 and closes off one or more streets to traffic, and opens it to pedestrians, cyclists and public transport.
