Kyiv organises activities during EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK 2013, taking into account the annual theme.
All week
1. Cycling-Friendly Employer Contest among local offices
2. Movie screenings of environmental and cycling-related documentaries
3. Development, presentation and public discussion of a START project - pilot project to develop cycling infrastructure in one city district
4. Cycling rides and city tours
5. Pedestrian area over the weekend
Permanent measures
Kyiv implements one or more new permanent measure(s), which contribute(s) to modal transfer from private car to environmentally sound means of transport.
New or improved bicycle facilities
Improvement of bicycle facilities (parking, locks etc)
Pedestrianisation
Improvement of infrastructure (new foot bridges, pavements, road crossings, zebra crossings etc)
Extension or creation of new greenways
Public transport services
Development of new technologies to improve public transport
Mobility management
Create/establish mobility centers and on-line information services (eg travel planner)
Car-free day
Kyiv carries out a Car-Free Day 2013 and closes off one or more streets to traffic, and opens it to pedestrians, cyclists and public transport.
Zone opened to residents on Car-Free Day:
For September 21-22 part of Bohdana Khmelnytskogo St. will be closed for traffic. The area will be full of promotion, education and recreation activities including:
- dancing
- recycling craft master classes
- various master classes and activities for children and adults
- playground for children
- award of the Cycling-Friendly Employer contest
Cycling ride will finish in this area too.
Information on the pilot cycling project will be presented to public.
