All week
The municipality of Moss will arrange a 3 day class teaching new immigrants to ride a bike. This will create more cyclists in the city, thereby better air quality, as well as contributing to integrate the new citizens.
Landscape architect students from the Norwegian university of Life Sciences are going to create a temporary park covering app. 230 m2 of a parking area in the city center. The park will be available for citizens to use the whole week, and a local youth environment organization (NU) will be serving coffee and food. By having NU present, the park will hopefully be a gathering point for the local youth. The park in itself will also contribute to cleaner air and reduce the number of cars in the city center.
The administration in Environment and waste management will also pay tribute to local commuters who use their bike or walk to the train station. They will receive a fair trade banana and a bike seat cover, as well as a card thanking them for walking/riding their bikes. This should encourage them to continue to walk/bike, and hopefully encourage other commuters to do the same.
We also focus on the national campaign named "Beintøft" which encourages school children to walk or ride their bikes to school. Three schools are participating so far. This will reduce the number of cars around schools and thereby create a better air quality for school children.
In order to further focus on youth, we are participating in the national Instagram campaign "Pimp-my-bike". This is an Instagram competition where the best photo of a "pimped" bike will win a new bike
