Participation 2014

The participant is committed to:

Organising a week of activities, taking into account the focal theme.
Actions relative to the theme:
We have arranged a series of led walks to encourage citizens to see parts of their local area outside their usual route and make available a series of self-led walks on our website. A main street in Southwark, Bermondsey Street will be closed for the annual street festival and will have a Dr Bike. The council's pool bike scheme will be publicised to staff at key buildings.
Carrying out a Car-Free Day event by closing one or more streets to traffic, and opening it to pedestrians, cyclists and public transport. This should preferably happen on 22 September to mark your town or city as part of World Car-Free Day.
Zone opened to residents on Car-Free Day:
Bermondsey Street will be closed to all motorised traffic on Saturday 20th September.
Implementing one or more new permanent measure(s), which contribute(s) to modal transfer from private car to environmentally sound means of transport.
