Vicenza implements one or more new permanent measure(s), which contribute(s) to modal transfer from private car to environmentally sound means of transport.

Improvement and extension of the public transport network (creation of HOV lanes for public transport modes, new stops, new lines, reserved areas etc)

1) Completion of the remaining 500 m of an important bike lane connecting the west suburban area to the town center
2) Broadening of the Limited Traffic Zone and Pedestrian Areas
3) Establishment of residential traffic area through moderate speed limit (30Km/h)
4) Expansion of bike parking with service of marking bike
5) Securing intersections of an historic and important cycle lane
6) Start of public transport on demand service in the evening
7) Realization of public transport service from the interchange parking to the new Limited Traffic Area
8) Encouraging the use of public transport for the over 75 years old people through introduction of reduced prices
9) Realization of reserved lane for public transport through automatic control of irregular steps and traffic light system with preferencing
10) Construction of raised pedestrian and cycling crossing near schools
Car-free day
Vicenza carries out a Car-Free Day 2014 and closes off one or more streets to traffic, and opens it to pedestrians, cyclists and public transport.

In Town without my car, 21 Sept 2014, h. 10.00-18.00.
Sunday, September 21 will be prohibited from movement to all motor vehicles from 10 to 18 in the historical center and other periferic more populous suburbs.
