Activities within the week Activities within the week

Eskilstuna organises activities during EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK 2014, taking into account the annual theme.

All week
Our main focus for the week is on public transport but we also have activities more strictly related to this years topic. For example we are going to take a couple of parking lots and change them to other uses like park and cycle parking. We also plan to use street art with messages around sustainable transports.

Permanent measures Permanent measures

Pedestrianisation
Improvement of infrastructure (new foot bridges, pavements, road crossings, zebra crossings etc)
Accessibilities

Lowering of pavements
Enlargement of pavements
Mobility management
Provision of incentives and bonuses to employers
Organisation of regular fora or surveys on public opinions and ideas

Car-free day Car-free day

Eskilstuna carries out a Car-Free Day 2014 and closes off one or more streets to traffic, and opens it to pedestrians, cyclists and public transport.

Zone opened to residents on Car-Free Day:
The zone is mainly the parking lots that are described above. On the "In town without my car”-day we also have an event/festival with public transport in focus that has to use a smaller part of the a city street called J A Selandersgata. The street is more of a local street without major car intensity.
