Activities within the week Activities within the week

Mosfellsbær organises activities during EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK 2015, taking into account the annual theme.

All week
1) Bicycling tour in Mosfellsbaer in celebration of start of EMW and combined with The Day of Icelandic Nature.
2) Publishing of a new bicycle map for tourists, showing a especially marked bicycle route in town.
3) Inauguration of a new bicycle trail from downtown
Mosfellsbaer heading north of the town towards Mount Esja, an extension of a new biketrail from
Mosfellsbaer to adjacent Reykjavik city, set down in 2013 and finalized 2014-2015, in order to facilitate urban sustainable mobility.
4) BMX-Program for children at main square with BMX bicycle experts showing tricks on their bikes and temporary bicycle ramps put up on the main square
for BMX and scateboard enthusiasts.
5) Dr. Bike sets up a repair garage at the main square to assist residence in repairing their bikes.
6) Bicycle conference – Bicycling for the future 2014.
A whole day conference on sustainable transportation and bicycling,held in cooporation with municipalities in the metropolitan
area and regional bicycle organizations.
7) Bicycle maps distributed to all swimmingpools and sporting facilities, and put on the the town´s webside to encouraged residents in Mosfellsbæ to take advantage
of a wide range of biking trails in Mosfellsbaer.
8) A map showing the 15-minute walking radius and 6 cycling radius from the center Mosfellsbaer introduced to encourage people to walk or bicycle locally.
9) A pilot project with tourist buses running between main attractions in the municipalities in the metropolitan area.

Car-free day Car-free day

Mosfellsbær carries out a Car-Free Day 2015 and closes off one or more streets to traffic, and opens it to pedestrians, cyclists and public transport.

All residence visiting the local library given a bus tickets with
incentives to leave their car at home on the day
