Several events all around Tallinn are organised during the European Mobility Week to promote nordic walking and other types of activities in parks and health trails .

Car-free day Car-free day

Tallinn carries out a Car-Free Day 2015 and closes off one or more streets to traffic, and opens it to pedestrians, cyclists and public transport.

Zone opened to residents on Car-Free Day:
From 9.30 to 16.00 Tallinn restricts traffic on Telliskivi street, which is located on the side of the Telliskivi Creative City in the district of Northern Tallinn where the big family festival celebrating Car Free Day takes place. During the Car Free Day several activities will take place :
Orienteering Race: The idea of the race is to use public transport to get from one point to another. This event is increasingly popular, with over 600 participants in last year’s race. As public transport in Tallinn is free for all city’s residents, this race is an effective tool to further increase the use of public transport in Tallinn. A guided bicycle tour around the district of Kalamaja visiting several examples of different architectural styles for apartment buildings in the area. A guided walking tour in the Telliskivi Creative City. A small fair will be organised in the City to invite more residents to take part in the activities on Car Free Day. There will be tents offering eco-friendly products and organic food. Various types of alternative transport will be promoted and showcased during the event: e.g. electrical solowheels, electrical bicycles, roller skates, scooters etc.
