The participant is committed to:

Organising a week of activities, taking into account the focal theme.
Actions relative to the theme:
During the week, a lot of activities to celebrate sustainable mobility will be carried out, i.e.
- September 16 -22, public enquiries regarding bicycle infrastructure quality and development, available on the internet and during public events;
- September 16 - 22, presentation and promotion of bicycle and pedestrian routes and paths on the internet, Facebook and other sites;
- "A joyfull relay-race" in Youth park for school children of 5-8 grade; 15 September, 12.00 - 16.00;
- 17 September 17.30 Nordic walking tour by Mazoji Dailide lake;
- 18 September, Europe heritage day. To commemorate this occasion, the excursion to cultural heritage objects "The oldest bridge in Alytus: from locomotive to the bicycle" , organized by Alytus tourism information center;
- September 22, 12.00 - 13.00 public transport is free of charge for all citizens;
- September 22, 17.00 excursion in Alytus city center, organized by Alytus tourism information center;
- Orientation sport competition "In forest paths", 16.30 - 18.00. There are five competitions organized by Alytus sport and recreation center Orienteering sport club "Dainava"
Carrying out a Car-Free Day event by closing one or more streets to traffic, and opening it to pedestrians, cyclists and public transport. This should preferably happen on 22 September to mark your town or city as part of World Car-Free Day.
Zone opened to residents on Car-Free Day:
This time no areas in Alytus will be closed to traffic. However, all organizations, institutions, companies and individuals are encouraged to take part into "Car-free day" competition organized by Alytus city municipality Public health office. The winners will be awarded with special prize.
Implementing one or more new permanent measure(s), which contribute(s) to modal transfer from private car to environmentally sound means of transport.
Permanent measures implemented this year:
Public transport services
  • Improvement and extension of the public transport services (express services, increase frequency etc)
Traffic calming and access control scheme
  • Speed reduction programmes in zones near schools
Mobility management
  • Adoption of school travel plans
  • Launch of awareness-raising campaigns
  • Elaboration of educational materials
  • Development of travel plans / mobility plans in consultation with local stakeholders
  • Organisation of regular fora or surveys on public opinions and ideas
