Umeå (Umea) organises activities during EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK 2015, taking into account the annual theme.

All week
During the european mobility week the region of Västerbotten are going to arrange a sustainable week. All organisations, companys and also the public are encouraged to make their own events during this week.

Campaign on traffic safety will take place during the week. The campaign will focus on the inteaction between different type of transportation. With the vision to decrease traffic injuries. It includes a competition to nominate the best traffic slogan, wich makes it easier to remember the right way to act in traffic.

The municipality will also give out free bike lights, cycle maps, reflexes etc during the week.

Umeå (Umea) implements one or more new permanent measure(s), which contribute(s) to modal transfer from private car to environmentally sound means of transport.

New or improved bicycle facilities
Improvement of bicycle network (creation of new lanes, extension, renovation, signposting etc)
Improvement of bicycle facilities (parking, locks etc)
- New bicycle paths, for example Nygatan, where parts of the roadway have been rebuilt to a bike path.

- Car park becomes bicycle parking spaces in the centre of Umeå. Due to high demand, the bicyclists now have the possibility to park directly next to the mall.
