Modena organises activities during EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK 2015, taking into account the annual theme.

Starting from the idea that promoting sustainable mobility means always to improve physical activity and so healthy lifestyle, during the week we organize several activities such as walking for citizens from working places to public parks, lessons on how to get healthier by walking, animations in the parks, Sunday without cars, and so on

This year the City of Modena joined the fifth edition of “Giretto of Italy”, the National League of urban cycling organized by municipalities together with Legambiente, and VeloLove Euromobility. This year it will be monitored travel by bike to reach the workplace. They will be monitored journeys made by bicycle to travel to the workplace by employees of public and private companies that join the initiative. The monitoring will be carried out by volunteers who, in a predefined period of time (presumably from 07:30 to 09:00 am) and through special checkpoints set up at the entrance of the workplace, will monitor the number of bikes in transit. Ecological Sunday with closure of traffic in the town center from 9.00 to 18.00. Within the Regional Pact "Free air" . Stop of polluting vehicles: the restricted zone includes all the city center and the neighbouring areas.

In this document are contained the planned measures limiting vehicular traffic and emergency measures for the management of critical situations; at the same time there is the will to maintain high public attention to the issues related to air pollution in order to promote the dissemination of transport systems with low impact, alternative to the private car and protecting public health. In the agreement are also provided regional actions aimed at improving the systems of collective mobility (TPL, railways, car sharing, car pooling), initiatives to encourage energy conservation and the use of best available techniques in productive activities. In the agreement there is the permanent measure of “ecological Sundays”
