As main current activities and measures that Capital City Podgorica conducts and plan to conduct in relation to establishing sustainable transport, should be pointed out the following:
- Building of mini-bypass, which made possible relocation of traffic from the City center, thus reducing congestion and speeding up traffic flow;
- Setting up mechanism of faster flow and traffic circulation, through construction of roundabouts on the chosen localities, replacing “classic” crossroads, which contributes to more dynamic traffic flow and reduction of congestion;
- Organizing of annual manifestations (Energy days and Energy week), which, among the others, covered the topics of sustainable transport, alternative ways of mobility (bicycles, electric vehicles, etc.), use of alternative fuels, etc.
- Few project concept notes, related to improvement of traffic infrastructure, has been developed and will be used for applying toward international funds;
- Capital City has developed and implements Sustainable Energy Action Plan which covers three sectors, including transport. In that term, set of activities, concerning improvement of public transport and City fleet has been defined;
- Significant segment of activities in this field is also participation in several international projects, which are focused on energy management and fight against climate changes, thus recognizing as necessity, defining and implementing measures aimed toward reducing CO2 from traffic and establishing alternative modes of transport.
