All week
On September 16 a walking tour in the parks and gardens of Tallinn Old Town is organised. On September 18 a city orienteering event in the district of Uus Maailm is held. During the week other events that celebrate sustainable mobility are organised such as jogging events, running competition and mountain bike race. Additionally the mascot of the Sustainable Mobility Month organised yearly in Tallinn in September will visit more than 10 kindergartens in Tallinn to disseminate information regarding sustainable and safe mobility in a fun way.

We will open a new boardwalk in the protection area of Paljassaare, in northern Tallinn. This allows also people with reduced mobility to go into the nature area and learn more about the nature heritage in the area. It will also encourage people to use the boardwalk for other recreational purposes such as walks, riding a bike etc.

Car-free day Car-free day

Tallinn carries out a Car-Free Day 2017 and closes off one or more streets to traffic, and opens it to pedestrians, cyclists and public transport.

Zone opened to residents on Car-Free Day:
Tallinn is organising its Car-Free Day on 24 September. It will be held in the city center, meaning the area that will be closed to traffic is an important artery for the city of Tallinn (the Pärnu highway). On this day a huge orienteering race on public transport is organised, that has its beginning and end on the Pärnu highway. Additionally a bike tour and a walking tour is organised to introduce the most convenient and sustainable modes of transport to the residents. The day will end with a concert. All of the activities are free of charge. The aim is to have people understand how much more space there would be for pedestrians, cyclists, businesses, children etc if we could share the needs of our mobility more often.
