İstanbul Büyükşehir Belediyesi (Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality) organises activities during EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK 2017, taking into account the annual theme.

All week
- Bicycle Tour will be organized in cooperation with "İstanbul Bicycle Association" between Sirkeci and Bostancı including intercontinental trip using public transport, i.e. travelling by ferry between two continents on 17th of September.
- Organizing campaigns and preparing visuals to raise awareness about European Mobility Week through multiple channels such as via IMM’s official web sites, social media accounts, Variable Message Signs, mobile applications, Call Center IVR System, billboards
- Translating European Mobility Week introduction video into Turkish and publishing it via different platforms such as via IMM’s official sites, social media accounts, on public transport buses
- Giving a speech/presentation to press (i.e. national radio, TV channels) about Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM)’s Sustainable Transport Solutions during the week
- Rewarding IMM’s companies those which provide sustainable transport solutions for Istanbul.
- Ensuring that IMM’s Department of Transportation staff come to work by bike, by public transport, by walking or by carpooling on “Car-Free Day”.
- Introducing IMM’s sustainable transport solutions (i.e. bicycle roads, bicycle rental services, public transport facilities, P&R solutions, projects for pedestrians, etc.) via multiple communication channels such as via internet, mobile apps, radio broadcast, variable message signs
- Getting feedback/suggestions about Car-Sharing System via questionnares published on internet and social media accounts
- Getting feedback/suggestions about better public transport service and cycling via social media accounts
- Inviting college students to an ongoing metro construction site
- Make an interview with a citizen who cycles for daily commute between home and office
- Make an interview with an expert about advantages of cycling
- Carrying official documents of IMM between different buildings using bikes
- Launching new parking lots, bicycle roads, P&R locations, bus lanes on European Mobility Week
- Using e-vehicles by high-ranking authorities of IMM for daily commute.
- Hanging posters, introductory visuals in front of IMM buildings, cafeteria, etc.
- Organizing an after work sports activity by participation of both IMM managers, staff and citizens for a healthier life.
- Launching/Introducing Accessible Pedestrian Buttons, Graded Pedestrian Crossing and Bicycle Rental Locations to press during week
- Providing information about advantages of using bicycles, about bicycle roads in Istanbul to citizens in kiosks located at different parts of the city in cooperation with "İstanbul Bicycle Association".
- Giving a privilege to those in IMM’s parking lots who share their cars.
- IMM managers will share their cars with IMM staff for daily commute.
- Measure and compare the air quality and noise level on Ordu Street to identify the effects of pedestrianisation project.
- Training adults and children about cycling at Topkapı Traffic Education Park in cooperation with "İstanbul Bicycle Association".
- Organizing a discussion with students and academics about Sustainable Transport in Istanbul and giving speeches about this year's theme.

İstanbul Büyükşehir Belediyesi (Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality) implements one or more new permanent measure(s), which contribute(s) to modal transfer from private car to environmentally sound means of transport.

New or improved bicycle facilities
Improvement of bicycle network (creation of new lanes, extension, renovation, signposting etc)
Pedestrianisation
Create or enlarge pedestrian streets
Improvement of infrastructure (new foot bridges, pavements, road crossings, zebra crossings etc)
Public transport services
Improvement and extension of the public transport services (express services, increase frequency etc)
Traffic calming and access control scheme
Speed reduction programmes in zones near schools

Enlargement of pavements
Elaboration of sound devices in traffic lights

Launch of awareness-raising campaigns
Organisation of regular fora or surveys on public opinions and ideas
School travel plans will be organized to optimize traffic conditions in Istanbul during mobility week.

All public transport modes will be will be free on 18th of September between 06am-01pm.
318 new public transport vehicles will be added to IETT public transport fleet which will be 4863 in total and 3833 new trips will be added for IETT public transport services.

Car-free day Car-free day

İstanbul Büyükşehir Belediyesi (Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality) carries out a Car-Free Day 2017 and closes off one or more streets to traffic, and opens it to pedestrians, cyclists and public transport.

Zone opened to residents on Car-Free Day:
Turgut Özal Bulvarı (Anatolian side coastal road) between Kartal and Bostancı will be closed for private cars and will be available to cyclists, public transport vehicles and pedestrians.
