Car free day (lots of interesting activites for public, mainly school and kindergarten children; placement of "Park on the street"; theater; polygons; outdoor sport activities; library; art workshop; yoga course; symulator of safe driving, e-vehicles; selecting winners of the campaign "Ride with PPT-Lokalc"; concert at the end

guided city tour round Velenje
Carrying out a Car-Free Day event by closing one or more streets to traffic, and opening it to pedestrians, cyclists and public transport. This should preferably happen on 22 September to mark your town or city as part of World Car-Free Day.
Zone opened to residents on Car-Free Day:
Rudarska street closed for the whole day (its one of the main roads in Velenje)
Implementing one or more new permanent measure(s), which contribute(s) to modal transfer from private car to environmentally sound means of transport.
Permanent measures implemented this year:
New or improved bicycle facilities
  • Improvement of bicycle network (creation of new lanes, extension, renovation, signposting etc)
  • Develop public bicycle hiring and sharing systems
  • Improvement of bicycle facilities (parking, locks etc)
  • Other: self repair toolkit station for bicycles; pump track for bikes, skates etc.
  • Create or enlarge pedestrian streets
  • Improvement of infrastructure (new foot bridges, pavements, road crossings, zebra crossings etc)
