Car-free day Car-free day

Leeds carries out a Car-Free Day 2021 and closes off one or more streets to traffic, and opens it to pedestrians, cyclists and public transport.

Zone opened to residents on Car-Free Day:
Cookridge Street (permanently closed to motor vehicle traffic in the last 12 months as part of a bigger £1.7m project to create new public space in the city centre. This street now features seating, greenery and a new cycle path and is used as an event space).
