Car-Free Day - Ungheni is, according to
mobilityweek.eu/2021-participants/, one of the two cities in the Republic of Moldova that joined, this year, the European Mobility Week, traditionally held between 16-22 September. In total, 3036 localities from 53 countries participate in this large-scale event.
On September 22nd, 2021, when World Car-Free Day is marked, the employees of Ungheni City Hall and of some public institutions from Ungheni organized a flashmob, urging people to walk as much as possible, because it is healthy.
At the same time, in order to encourage the use of bicycles as a means of traveling around the city over short distances, as well as the physical activity of the population, Ungheni City Hall team is currently working on a large project on the construction of bike lanes throughout the city.
The appeal was that walking or cycling is healthy, it helps to improve air quality by reducing carbon emissions. Only in this way people will we create an urban environment favourable to our health and to the generations to come -
