FGURA CAR FREE DAY -
Closing off a major traffic artery in Fgura, during the time of the day when the residents are

typically moving around this area especially on Sunday, will help the residents understand
how living in a car free environment can open opportunities for other activities that would
otherwise be impossible to hold. The event will promote sporting activities whilst concurrently
educate the general public on the benefits of a healthy lifestyle. Bringing sports back to the
streets, to where, only few years back, it used to belong will help everyone understand what
we have lost to the car over the last 4 decades i.e. the possibility of enjoying the outside
environment that surrounds us. It is ironic that because we are not in a position to enjoy our
living environment, we have to drive off to more remote areas when we need time for
recreation.
