In cooperation with Šmarjeta Elementary School and volunteers from different local associations (Tourist Association,Ppensioners' Association, School of Health, Rural Women's Association, etc.) we will organize activities for school kids named Walking bus and Bike train. In the local community, we are aware of the importance of physical activity, positive effects of outdoor movement, education about traffic safety, sustainable development, intergenerational socializing and the transfer of knowledge to younger generations. One Primary school will be involved in the activity and at least 100 Primary school children will visit Walking bus every morning and go to school by foot or by bike. Between15 to 20 volunteer chaperones from various local societies will also be involved in the activity. Two teacher-mentors will participate every morning to welcome children and will take care of the organization of activities and will coordinate the daily implementation. As part of the project, 7 walking routes with timetables will be prepared which will have 10 walking bus stops. At the end of the Walking bus and Bike train ride, we will award prizes to participating students and volunteers. The final promotional event will be related to traffic safety.

All elementary school students of Šmarjete Elementary School from 1st to 9th grade will be invited to participate in Walking bus and Bike train. Šmarjeta elementary school is attended by over 380 children, so we expect the inclusion of at least 100 elementary school students and at least 15 volunteer chaperones. The implementation of the Walking bus and Bike train is a very welcome and attractive addition to school activities within the framework of the European Mobility Week in the local community, in addition to active outdoor movement, participants will also learn safe and independent participation in traffic as pedestrians and cyclists, and at the same time, the implementation of the activity is an opportunity for intergenerational networking and cooperation, as the volunteers will include children's parents and grandparents, as well as retirees and members of various local voluntary associations.

ACTIVE IN KINDERGARTEN WITH THE WHITE BUNNY
During the European Mobility Week between September 18, 2023 and September 22, 2023, we will also carry out the activity - Actively in Kindergarten with the White Bunny. The activity will be aimed at preschool children and their parents, who will walk to the kindergarten every morning with the "White Rabbit" mascot. All kindergarten children and their parents and grandparents will be invited to participate in the activity via an invitation in the kindergarten. A daily participation of 20 children with their parents or companions is expected, which means 40 participants. For the purposes of carrying out the activity, a meeting place for going to kindergarten will be determined and marked, where the children and their companions will gather and, accompanied by the White Bunny and the kindergarten teachers, will go to the kindergarten on foot. The purpose of the activity is primarily to reduce morning motorized traffic around the school and kindergarten and to actively encourage walking and cycling among the youngest in a positive way.

Local sports association will organize a hike for all generations.

Police station from Novo mesto will held a professional lecture on traffic safety, safe use of bicycles, e-vehicles and the importance of respecting rules in traffic for elementary school students.
For the elderly, there will be a professional lecture on a healthy lifestyle and a walking test, where they will check their physical status.

We will organize a cycling trip around the Municipality with electric bikes, during which the participants will get to know the use of e-bikes. A Nordic walking workshop with a shorter hike will be held by instructor for Nordic walking.

A creative workshop will be organized for Elementary school students on the topic of sustainable mobility. For the elderly, we will organize an expert lecture in the field of traffic safety and will be held by the Novo mesto police station.

There will be a lecture on proper first aid and resuscitation with a defibrillator - AED.

Car Free Day will be organized, the main road across the square in Šmarjeta will be closed. Various activities, presentations, performances and workshops for all generations will take place on the square. The end of the Walking Bus and Bike Train activities will be held on the town square, there will be organized blood pressure and cholesterol measurements for the elderly, the municipal organization for prevention and traffic safety will be presented, children will watch two puppet shows on the topic of traffic safty and mobility, we will organize verious creative workshops for all generations, itc.
