Sunderland organises activities during EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK 2023, taking into account the annual theme.

All week
• Partnering with BetterPoints to promote their week long activities and European Break Competition, sharing this with our business / partner contacts, staff and social media.
• BetterPoints Extra bonus points and prizes throughout the week linked to The BIG WALK.
• The BIG WALK, Herrington Country Park – 3 mile, 8 mile & 12 mile fun family walks.
• Schools Competition (attached) to design a poster (on blank Modeshift poster from resource pack) how pupils could travel to school sustainably on World Car Free Day. 2 x £50 vouchers to be won funded by Sunderland City Council to the most creative designs.
• Freshers Week at Uni – push of BetterPoints & £1 bus travel for under 21`s and the 700 & 701 free bus shuttle service for students to and from campus sites & City hospital.
• Promotion of £2 single fare travel & £1 for under 21`s – staff & social media.
• ParkThatBike scheme – FREE cycle parking for all schools, organisations and health practice buildings.
• Cycle to Work Scheme – push Cycle Solutions offer to staff.
• FREE bikers breakfast & Dr.Bike Sessions for staff at City Hall / Riverside Development on Friday 22nd September for World Car Free Day.
• Other initiatives happening – Bike marking, Cycle training, family bike rides and bike maintenance sessions.
• City Hall Green Champions forum sharing best practice with sustainable travel.
• 3 Public consultation events in September to engage local feedback on proposed new cycle infrastructure within the city.
