Aglantzia organises activities during EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK 2023, taking into account the annual theme.

All week
During this week, we will organize various activities and events that will raise awareness and send messages to our citizens, especially the younger generation, about the importance of environmental protection. 16 September
The Municipality of Aglantzia in collaboration with the company Mikel Aglantzia, located on Antonis Samaraki Street (opposite of the University of Cyprus), has scheduled the closure of the road in the area from 15:00 to 17:00. Barriers will be set up for soccer and basketball to provide young people in the area with the opportunity to engage in various sports. The Galaxy Soccer Academy will also participate.
17 September
The Municipality of Aglantzia will be providing information outside the local churches regarding the bus schedules serving the areas around them and providing easy access and the opportunity to use buses, especially for eldery citizens.
18 September
Contributing to the improved quality of life for people with disabilities and enhancing the accessibility of public spaces, we announce the signing of a significant memorandum of understanding with the company AbleBook and K. Treppides & Co Ltd, in collaboration with the Municipality of Aglantzia. This agreement aims to create a unified platform that will record all public parking spaces accessible to people with disabilities in our municipality. This platform will provide detailed information regarding access to these spaces, including location, the number of parking spots, and any special facilities for people with disabilities. This will enable people with disabilities to easily and quickly locate available parking spaces that meet their needs.
19 September
In collaboration with the Cyprus Police and the Municipal Schools of Aglantzia (4th Aglantzia Elementary School - Cycle B and 5th Aglantzia Elementary School), an event will be organized where virtual fines will be placed on cars parked on bike lanes and sidewalks. Additionally, information will be provided to children on traffic education topics.
20 September
The Municipality of Aglantzia will place an artistic installation outside the Athalassa Park, which will represent the capacity occupied by a car in terms of bicycles. This installation will be used as a bicycle parking area and will remain permanently in the area. Construction with reusable materials.

The municipal staff of Aglantzia will adopt more environmentally friendly methods of commuting to their work, including buses, bicycles, scooters, or walking.
22 September
The Municipality of Aglantzia is co-hosting a daily informative event at University of Cyprus in collaboration with Cyprus Greens-Citizens Cooperation, Cyprus Public Transportation and Nextbike for alternative means of transport within Aglantzia. Students will be transported through an electric vehicle to different stations. Each station has ben set up for this purpose and represent alternative ways of transport, alternative routes and alternative benefits. There will be a demonstration of bikes from Next Bike and Scooters.

We have placed real bicycles and wheelchairs to deter those who park on sidewalks and bike lanes (artistic interventions) on main roads. Also we have installed a bench suitable for people with disabilities and their escorts in multiple motorways within our Municipality.

Car-free day Car-free day

Aglantzia carries out a Car-Free Day 2023 and closes off one or more streets to traffic, and opens it to pedestrians, cyclists and public transport.
