Rafelbunyol organises activities during EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK 2023, taking into account the annual theme.
All week
Rafelbunyol Coulcil is developing from the 15st to the 22nd of Setember the European Mobility Week 2023. Starting the 15st with the Projecte "SAY. Scooter Freestyle" promoting sports and a sustanaible mean of transport in the town. Rafelbunyol is a town, close to Valencia city, that as as result of the urban developing the size of the town has grown a lot, changes the habits of transport from the population, incresing the use of private car. The European Mobilty Week is focus in 2 main fields: 1) Changing and engouraging the Youth in a more Green Future and also, opening new innovative spaces for the general population to learn about Sustainability in their town. The activities will have dynamic workshops, Information points and and informative learning day, as well as a sustanaible career.

Environmental education tent in the Main Square of the town: A tent with researchers and specialist in environmental education will be two days in the main Square of the
town, to be able to attend different audience, one day in the morning and one day in the afternnon.
An event will take place in the Culture House with an information point for citizens about the Waste Reduction and Separation Campaign "More alive, more sustainable".
19 September
Enjoy, without smoke! Coordinated by the Youth department and the Climate change. The Youth and Mobility sustainable departments will develop activity with Rafelbunyol youngters to raise awarness about the situation of the environmental crisis that are facing, putting then as main role in the future and the present by discovering learning tools for: learning new concepts conected with the environment, ways of mesuring our carbon foot print, and SDG and its relation with the evironment
20 September
Media campaign inciative: " Don't let them explain it to you! " MOVE FOR CHANGE! The campaign is adressed to all the population, Although there will be and specific activity with the Local Children Committee

Sustainable mobility activity : There will be a career where we will work on architectural barriers, talk about the skate park project with professional skaters at the level of the Valencian community, promoting green alternative means of transport in the town.
22 September
Sustainable mobility DAY at the High School in Rafelbunyol and the Primary School! 250 participants ( Students and teachers from the Primary and the Hich School of Rafelbunyol) will take part in a race on scooters and bicycles and 5 workshops on sustainable European Mobility. The cars wil be ban to enter in the roads involved from 9.15 to 13pm
Permanent measures
Rafelbunyol implements one or more new permanent measure(s), which contribute(s) to modal transfer from private car to environmentally sound means of transport.
New or improved bicycle facilities
Improvement of bicycle network (creation of new lanes, extension, renovation, signposting etc)
Improvement of bicycle facilities (parking, locks etc)
Installation of charging points for e-bikes
Pedestrianisation
Create or enlarge pedestrian streets
Improvement of infrastructure (new foot bridges, pavements, road crossings, zebra crossings etc)
The Council has developed and speacial pedestrian area around the Primary School to create safers road to the school as well as discouranging the use of private car to go to the school
Traffic calming and access control scheme
Speed reduction programmes in zones near schools

Create the tactile pavements
Create wheelchair ramps
Removal of architectonic barriers
Differents streets have seen improved the accesibility with new wheelchair, spacially the Youth Space and Culture House

The local police have now 2 electric house to improve the sustainability in the institution

Rafelbunyol Council has work persistenly during this year implementing several mesures to improve the sustainability of the town. Some of them part of the mesures included in the commitment of the town in the Convenant of Mayors. The milestones to be highlated:
1) Implementation of new pedestrian areas around the Primary School of the town: with the Project " Safe Roads to the School" the Council is creating safer and greener zones around the schools. Futhermore, this measure will encourage the use of different means of transports that the private car
2) Impriving Public building to make them more accesible with new ramps in th Cultura Hause and Youth Center
3) The bicycle network of the town has been extended, including the circle network around the town
Car-free day
Rafelbunyol carries out a Car-Free Day 2023 and closes off one or more streets to traffic, and opens it to pedestrians, cyclists and public transport.
Zone opened to residents on Car-Free Day:
From the School and Secundary School from 9.15 to 13 cars will be ban to the Senyera Park on the 22nd
