Detailed description (English): For CCOO, it is therefore essential to agree on the necessary commitments to plan this process and promote measures to manage this transition. The priority for the coming years should be to guarantee the necessary investments in infrastructures that facilitate a more sustainable transport of passengers and goods, while maintaining their public ownership. The transport system must be rebalanced in favor of more sustainable modes and the promotion of efficient mobility to the workplace.
CCOO requires the Administration to implement different measures aimed at consolidating public transport as an essential element in a decarbonized economy. Among them: physical and sensorial improvement of all the infrastructures in the provision of the service to make it easier for all citizens to use any means of public transport; and promote coordination between the different means of transport to facilitate the modal change, shortening waiting times and improving transport occupation.
Also carry out new studies to redesign and dimension the railway structures that ensure sustainable and safe mobility, responding to local needs and that are an element of social cohesion and structuring of the territory; and draw up an electrification plan for the conventional network, prioritizing the railway lines that facilitate access to the railway in conditions of safety and equality between territories.
Likewise, CCOO claims to strengthen public transport modes with a greater endowment of personnel and equipment to satisfy the demands of the citizens; and develop a Safe and Sustainable Mobility Law.
CCOO insists that public transport as an essential service for citizens should not lose its characteristic of public management.
