Detailed description (English): With the help of volunteers of the NGO Andando Burgos and other citizens and the help of the local police we will use a longer than usual crossing time for pedestrians to delimit with two human chains a optimal and direct crosswalk in one of the principal access to the pedestrian zone at the city heart. This crosswalk will be a great gateway to the Cathedral which is a World Heritage .
In this way we will show the need to rethink the design of the cross, increasing the sidewalk in one of the sides to improve the quality of the waiting zone before the crosswalk. Currently a lot of people, local and tourists have to walk and wait in a very narrow sidewalk close to a road with heavy traffic. With this action we will try to redesign the crosswalk by delimiting a new one nearby through two human chains. The chain will be created by volunteers of the NGO and we will invite the people to use this new space to cross the road. We will count with the help of the local police to guarantee the safety of all, volunteers and pedestrians.
The action will be repeated several times during the pedestrian's green light time during a total interval of 3 hours, on Saturday afternoon one of the most demanded time.
We will request the creation of this new crosswalk and ampliation of the current sidewalk as a permanent action. Hopefully we will be lucky!!!
Nevertheless, this action is a recall to rethink other crosswalks of the city of favour of the pedestrial, to reduce the walking distances and increase the safety also, and in this way puss this active mode of mobility.
