Detailed description (English): "Pesha fest" (The festival of Walking) is an annual initiative of citizens and several NGOs in the city of Varna, Bulgaria, celebration the World Car-free Day - 22.09. The initiative is supported by the local municipality.
The festival consists of closing a popular street in the city of Varna for cars and opening it for various events related to mobility.
This year the program will cover 4 main areas:
1. The use of PMDs: informational campaigns for students about safety when riding an e-scooter and the newly introduced statutory regulations, showroom and promotion of safety gear, demonstrations, best practices for e-scooter regulations;
2. Improving air quality and public health via more car-free areas: measure and compare air quality before and after the car-free day, discussions with health experts and local authority representatives;
3. Public Transport: Informational campaign about the problems of public transport focusing on the increased levels of vandalism - rights and regulations; Public survey on the need of night service and optimising the transport schedule;
4. People with mobility issues: Informational campaign on the problems faced by of people with mobility issues and the options provided by local authorities and public transport providers.
The programme will also include several exhibitions, street performers, children workshops and competitions like - the most steps counted during EMW.
Detailed description (original language): ПЕША ФЕСТ е ежегодна инициатива, провежданна в гр. Варна, организирана от граждански инициативен комитет, с подкрепата на местни НПО и общинската администрация.
Цел на събитието е да повиши информираността на гражданското общество, свързана с устойчивата градска мобилност, промотирайки използването на немоторизирани средства за придвижване, интегриран градски транспорт и интелигентни транспортни системи (ITS).
Във връзка с тазгодишната тема "Мобилност за Всички", ПЕША ФЕСТ 2025 ще ангажират жителите и гостите на гр. Варна в редица от тематични събития - разговори, състезания, прожекции и други, проведени в централната част на града - отсечката ИУ Варна - пл. Севастопол - Община Варна. За провеждането на събитията, на 22.09.2025г. автомобилният трафик в тази отсечка ще бъде ограничен.
Пеша Фест 2025 ще се фокусира върху 4 основни направления:
1. Използване на ИЕПС: инфо- кампании за безопасност и нормативна уредба, демонстрации, най-добри практики за регулация на ИЕПС в градска среда, др.;
2. Подобряване чистотата на въздуха и общественото здраве, чрез зони с ограничен автомобилен трафик: Замерване на данни от РИОСВ и РЗИ, анализ и дискусия със специалисти, др.;
3. Обществен транспорт: Инфо- кампания за правата и задълженията на гражданите и служителите на транспортните оператори, анкета за необходимостта от нощен гр. транспорт, представяне на проект за оптимизация на графика, др.;
4. Мобилност за всички - фокус върху хората в неравностойно положение: инфо- кампании и спортни състезания;
Програмата ще е съпътствана от изложби, улични артисти и конкурси/състезания.
