Detailed description (English): We are excited to introduce ULJEB, a citizens’ association dedicated to promoting green mobility through innovative solutions like SolarCycle Charge, Serbia’s first solar-powered charging station for electric bicycles. Led by Filip Obradović, founder of Filbo Eko with extensive experience in energy efficiency and e-cycling, ULJEB is committed to building sustainable urban environments.
SolarCycle Charge is a pioneering solution designed to enhance e-bike infrastructure in cities. Currently in the prototype phase, our solar-powered charging station at Brankov Bridge, Belgrade, Serbia leverages 5 kW solar panels for carbon-neutral charging and an advertising monitor for self-sustaining revenue. This innovative approach addresses the lack of dedicated e-bike charging infrastructure, reduces CO2 emissions by 5 tons annually per station, and promotes healthier, less congested cities.
Target group(s): Our solution aligns with Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans (SUMP) and is scalable to cities across Serbia and the Danube region, with a vision to reach 150 cities and 5 million users within five years. Amog them are:
1.Urban Cyclists and E-Bike Users (18–65 years):
Adults in Belgrade using or considering e-bikes, including students and professionals, who benefit from accessible, eco-friendly charging infrastructure.
2.Local Authorities and Municipal Institutions:
Representatives of Stari Grad, Savski Venac, Novi Beograd, Belgrade Transport Secretariat, and JKP “Zelenilo Beograd,” key partners for project implementation and SUMP alignment.
3.Belgrade Citizens Interested in Sustainability:
General public, including families and youth, interested in reducing emissions and adopting healthier, sustainable transport options.
4.NGOs and Environmental Groups:
Organizations focused on green mobility and smart cities, potential partners for advocacy and regional collaboration in the Danube region.
5.Businesses and Advertisers:
Companies interested in advertising on solar charging station monitors, supporting financial sustainability while adhering to non-commercial campaign rules.
6. Tourists passing on e-bikes through Serbia
Objectives: 1.Promote E-Bike Adoption for Sustainable Urban Mobility:
Encourage at least 15% of Belgrade’s 1.7 million residents to adopt electric bicycles as an eco-friendly alternative to cars, reducing urban traffic congestion and promoting healthier lifestyles.
2.Reduce CO2 Emissions through Carbon-Neutral Infrastructure:
a)Achieve a reduction of 10 tons of CO2 emissions annually per SolarCycle Charge station by providing carbon-neutral charging powered by 10 kW solar panels.
b)Track and report a target of 500 monthly e-bike charges during the pilot phase to quantify environmental impact, aligning with sustainable urban mobility goals.
3.Enhance Urban E-Bike Infrastructure:
a)Deploy and test Serbia’s first solar-powered e-bike charging station in collaboration with the municipalities of Stari Grad, Savski Venac, and Novi Beograd, addressing the lack of dedicated e-bike infrastructure.
b)Lay the foundation for scalability, with a goal to replicate the SolarCycle Charge model in 10 Serbian cities within two years, supporting broader urban mobility plans (SUMP).
4.Engage and Educate Citizens:
a)Conduct awareness-raising campaigns during and beyond EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK to educate citizens on the environmental and health benefits of e-bikes, targeting 85% positive user feedback via on-site surveys and a dedicated mobile app.
b)Partner with the Belgrade Transport Secretariat and JKP “Zelenilo Beograd” to promote the action through community events, ensuring compliance with campaign rules prohibiting commercial endorsements.
5.Foster Scalable Partnerships for Green Mobility:
a)Strengthen collaboration with local authorities and regional networks (e.g., Danube region) to expand SolarCycle Charge to 150 cities within five years, promoting a sustainable urban mobility culture globally.
b)Use the EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK platform to showcase the project’s alignment with EU sustainability goals, adhering to campaign guidelines for non-commercial promotion.
Partner: We are collaborating with the municipalities of Stari Grad, Savski Venac, and Novi Beograd, as well as the Belgrade Transport Secretariat and Public Utility Company “Zelenilo Beograd,” to pilot this project.
