Detailed description (English): The structure of the city of Kassel as we see it today has evolved over the centuries due to a wide variety of influences. Changing mobility requirements were a significant factor in the further development of the cityscape. These connections are shown at exemplary locations. Starting from the city museum, we will move in a circle around the city center and come across the topics of rail transport, pedestrian zones and underpasses, car-friendly city and inner city ring, river navigation, urban planning of the 18th and 19th centuries, streetcars as well as high-speed cycle paths and bicycle traffic.
Detailed description (original language): Die Struktur der Stadt Kassel, so wie wir sie heute erleben, hat sich im Laufe der Jahrhunderte aufgrund verschiedenster Einflüsse herausgebildet. Ein bedeutender Faktor der Weiterentwicklungen des Stadtbildes waren veränderte Mobilitätsanforderungen. An exemplarischen Orten werden diese Zusammenhänge aufgezeigt. Vom Stadtmuseum ausgehend, bewegen wir uns in einem Kreis um die Innenstadt und stoßen auf die Themen Schienenverkehr, Fußgängerzonen und - Unterführungen, autogerechte Stadt und Innenstadtring, Flussschiffahrt, Stadtplanung des 18ten und 19ten Jahrhunderts, Straßenbahn sowie Radschnellwege und Radverkehr.
