Detailed description (English): Mobility transition? New drive technologies? Mobility options for seniors? The question of how we want to or should get from A to B in Germany in the future is currently preoccupying many people in society and politics. However, in contrast to most large cities, in rural areas it is often easier said than done to leave the car at home for everyday journeys to work or the shops because there is often simply a lack of attractive alternatives.
The Heide region in the Northern German state of Schleswig-Holstein, which includes the district capital of the Dithmarschen district Heide and 11 surrounding communities, is facing remarkable change. The planned establishment of a battery cell factory there, as well as other projects related to clean energy, offer development prospects that are almost unique in Germany – especially for a predominantly rural and agricultural region.
However, the infrastructure is currently primarily designed for motorised private transport, with the car being the undisputed primary means of transport. There are numerous approaches to making the mobility mix more inclusive in the future. However, financial obstacles and the pervasive shortage of skilled workers often lead to delays lasting years. Nevertheless, the Heide region is working on sustainable solutions to further improve the quality of life today and for future generations.
Detailed description (original language): Mobilitätswende? Neue Antriebstechnologien? Mobilität im Alter? Die Frage danach, wie wir uns in Deutschland zukünftig von A nach B fortbewegen wollen oder sollten, treibt aktuell viele Menschen aus Gesellschaft und Politik um. Doch im Gegensatz zu den meisten Großstädten, ist es in ländlichen Räumen häufig leichter gesagt als getan, das Auto für die alltäglichen Wege zur Arbeit oder zum Einkaufen auch mal stehenzulassen, weil es oftmals schlicht an attraktiven Alternativen mangelt.
Die Region Heide in Schleswig-Holstein, zu der die Kreisstadt des Kreises Dithmarschen Heide sowie elf umliegende Gemeinden gehören, steht vor einem bemerkenswerten Wandel. Die geplante Ansiedlung einer Batteriezellenfabrik sowie weitere Projekte im Zusammenhang mit sauberer Energie bieten Entwicklungsperspektiven, die in Deutschland nahezu einzigartig sind – insbesondere für eine ländlich und landwirtschaftlich geprägte Region.
Die Infrastruktur ist derzeit jedoch vor allem auf den motorisierten Individualverkehr ausgelegt, wobei das Auto das unangefochtene Hauptverkehrsmittel darstellt. Es gibt zahlreiche Ansätze, den Mobilitätsmix künftig inklusiver zu gestalten. Finanzielle Hürden und der allgegenwärtige Fachkräftemangel führen jedoch oft zu jahrelangen Verzögerungen. Dennoch arbeitet die Region Heide an nachhaltigen Lösungen, um die Lebensqualität heute und für zukünftige Generationen weiter zu verbessern.

A bike tour through the region will offer all interested citizens the opportunity to learn more about measures already implemented and those planned related to sustainable mobility.
