Detailed description (English): EIT Urban Mobility has coordinated the development of the online course on “Smart and Healthy Cities”, available for free at the Girls Go Circular platform. Girls Go Circular is an initiative managed by the EIT Community and funded by the European Union which supports schoolgirls, and more broadly, any student, to develop their digital and leadership skills while learning about the circular economy and finding solutions for a sustainable future. The online learning platform developed in the framework of the project – the “Circular Learning Space” – offers students the option of choosing between different courses on several topics.
Target group(s): The main audience of the course is schoolgirls aged 14-19 across Europe, as the project aims at closing the gender gap in STEM disciplines. However, the platform is open to everyone and the training is designed to be implemented in the classroom with all the students (boys and girls) and through the facilitation of a teacher.
Objectives: The course enables learners to:
- Identify the main environmental stressors and understand their impact on health and quality of life.
- Discover how technology can help monitor negative impacts on health and seek solutions.
- Understand that changes in where we live and how we move are part of the solution too.
- Get familiar with R coding language and data analysis.
- Develop problem-solving and presentation skills.
Partner: The module was designed by EIT Urban Mobility and EIT Health in collaboration with ISGlobal, Barcelona Supercomupting Center, EIT Raw Materials and Brainshuttle. This activity is part of the Girls Go Circular project coordinated by EIT Raw Materials with the contribution of EIT Climate-KIC, EIT Digital, EIT Food, EIT Health, EIT Manufacturing, and EIT Urban Mobility.
