Detailed description (English): The two-week summer school in Dorfen is part of the Rail4Cities research project (Railway stations for green and socially-inclusive cities) and one of the project’s Europe-wide living labs, where knowledge previously developed by the international consortium is tested in practice. During this limited period of time, approximately 30 students coming from various disciplines of the Technical University of Munich (e.g. Architecture, Urbanism, Landscape Architecture, Environmental Engineering, Transportation Systems, Civil Engineering) will elaborate on urban development and urban transformation plans oriented towards public transport and accessibility (Transit-Oriented Development/TOD). As a town on a regional feeder route in the Munich metropolitan region, Dorfen offers great potential for the development of solutions of this kind. Furthermore, the summer school will focus on various current fields of action in sustainable urban development, such as the design of mobility spaces, the integration of green-blue infrastructure, the social function of the urban fabric around the train station, and the active cooperation with local stakeholders. In particular, the students will seek dialogue with the citizens of Dorfen through various participation formats. The Summer School will be held in cooperation with the Bavarian State Ministry of Housing, Building and Transport (STMB, Landstadt Bayern program), the municipality of Dorfen, Deutsche Bahn (DB) and the owner of the area south of the station. The results of the summer school will be publicly exhibited at the Dorfen Town Hall.
Detailed description (original language): Die zweiwöchige Summer School in Dorfen ist Teil des Forschungsprojekts Rail4Cities (Railway stations for green and socially-inclusive cities) und eines der europaweiten Living Labs des Projekts, wo das zuvor von dem internationalen Konsortium erarbeitete Wissen in der Praxis erprobt wird. Rund 30 Studierende verschiedener Disziplinen der Technischen Universität München (z.B. Architektur, Urbanistik, Landschaftsarchitektur, Umweltingenieurwesen, Transportation Systems, Bauingenieurwesen) erarbeiten in diesem begrenzten Zeitraum städtebauliche Konzepte, die sich am öffentlichen Verkehr und an der Erreichbarkeit ausgerichtet sind (Transit-Oriented Development/TOD). Dorfen bietet als Stadt an einer regionalen Zubringerstrecke in der Metropolregion München ein großes Potenzial für die Entwicklung solcher Lösungen. Darüber hinaus werden in der Summer School verschiedene aktuelle Handlungsfelder der nachhaltigen Stadtentwicklung thematisiert, wie die Gestaltung von Mobilitätsräumen, die Integration von grün-blauer Infrastruktur, die soziale Funktion des Stadtgefüges rund um den Bahnhof und die aktive Zusammenarbeit mit lokalen Akteuren. Insbesondere werden die Studierenden durch verschiedene Beteiligungsformate den Austausch mit der lokalen Bevölkerung suchen. Die Summer School wird in Kooperation mit dem Bayerischen Staatsministerium für Wohnen, Bau und Verkehr (Programm Landstadt Bayern), der Stadt Dorfen, der Deutschen Bahn (DB) und dem Eigentümer des Areals südlich des Bahnhofs durchgeführt. Die Ergebnisse der Summer School werden im Dorfener Rathaus öffentlich ausgestellt.
