Detailed description (English): Europe Direct Madeira, in partnership with Machico City Council, will promote on September 22nd, European Car Free Day, an awareness/street action campaign among the population of this municipality. Given this year's theme, “Shared Public Space”, we intend to distribute flyers with alerts for changing behavior, alternatives to car use and the benefits of using soft mobility.
As a complement to the flyer, we will produce a website with information about European Mobility Week and its objectives.
This activity will be part of the European Mobility Week activities in the municipality of Machico.
Detailed description (original language): O Europe Direct Madeira, em parceria com a Câmara Municipal de Machico irá promover no dia 22 de setembro, Dia Europeu sem Carros, uma campanha de sensibilização/ação de rua junto da população deste município. Atendendo à temática deste ano, “Espaço Público Partilhado” pretendemos distribuir flyers com alertas para mudança de comportamentos, alternativas à utilização do carro e os benefícios da utilização da mobilidade suave. Como complemento ao flyer, iremos produzir um site com informações sobre a Semana Europeia da Mobilidade e os seus objetivos.
Esta atividade irá integrar as atividades da Semana Europeia da Mobilidade do município de Machico.

Objectives: -Alert for the adoption of sustainable behaviors and, in particular, the protection of air quality and the mitigation of global warming;
-Promote with the citizens the opportunity to use bicycles and other more sustainable types of transport, instead of private cars;
-Demonstrate the benefits of using bicycles and other means of soft mobility in terms of economic savings (euros) and environmental savings (CO2 emissions).
