Detailed description (English): The Sustainable Campus Committee of the Energy for Sustainability Initiative of the University of Coimbra promotes a photo contest dedicated to Sustainable Mobility, which is part of the European Mobility Week in September 2023. The results will be presented and exhibited on the European Car Free City Day on September 22, 2023. We count on the support of the Coimbra City Council, which joined us in this initiative. Take advantage of the vacations and/or a period more given to creativity to think about these photos and to compete! You can find detailed information on the EfS website (https://www.uc.pt/efs/article?key=a-d751886bfa ), namely the regulations and the submission platform.
We must move around at work or on vacation, and our daily life is full of images or portraits of sustainable and non-sustainable mobility.
We use different modes of transport, but in South Europe, we still feel limited in using sustainable alternatives, whether walking, cycling or public transport. Although many municipalities have made considerable efforts to improve transport infrastructure and systems, our cities are over-occupied by cars, while there are (still) no competitive alternatives.
Therefore, and as a picture is worth a thousand words, we ask for the following reflection (stimulating creativity in vacation time):
- what picture can I use to represent a sustainable mobility solution that
exists, that I experience and that I consider adequate and
- what photo can I use to represent a wrong solution or a situation
existing and to be changed?
Detailed description (original language): O Comité para o Campus Sustentável da Iniciativa Energia para a Sustentabilidade da Universidade de Coimbra promove um concurso de fotografia dedicado à Mobilidade Sustentável e que se inscreve na Semana Europeia da Mobilidade em setembro de 2023. Os resultados serão apresentados e expostos no Dia Europeu da Cidade sem Carros, a 22 de setembro de 2023. Contamos com a apoio da Câmara Municipal de Coimbra que se juntou a nós nesta iniciativa. Aproveitem as férias e/ou um período mais dado à criatividade para pensarem nestas fotografias e para concorrerem! Temos de nos deslocar no trabalho ou nas férias, e o nosso quotidiano está repleto de imagens ou retratos de mobilidade sustentável e não sustentável.
Utilizamos diferentes modos de transporte, mas, no Sul da Europa, ainda nos sentimos limitados na utilização de alternativas sustentáveis, seja a pé, de bicicleta ou de transportes públicos. Embora muitos municípios tenham feito esforços consideráveis para melhorar as infraestruturas e os sistemas de transportes, as nossas cidades estão sobre ocupadas por automóveis, enquanto (ainda) não existem alternativas competitivas.
Por isso, e como uma imagem vale mais do que mil palavras, pedimos a seguinte reflexão (estimulando a criatividade em tempo de férias):
- que imagem posso utilizar para representar uma solução de mobilidade sustentável?
- que imagem posso utilizar para revelar um problema?

Objectives: To foster peoples' awareness about the need to have infrastructures and systems adequate to our willingness to develop sustainable mobility behaviours.
To make people look at mobility as something highly impacting our lives and the environment.
To use a form of creative art to accomplish the previous objectives.
