Detailed description (English): Technology and the capabilities it provides have offered countless benefits in vital areas of human activity, including transportation and road safety.
In this spirit, the Municipality of Parga, utilizing new technologies, has installed "smart" autonomous pedestrian crossings at busy, dangerous points of the road network, specifically outside school complexes. These crossings "detect" the presence of a pedestrian on one side of the roadway and activate special systems to assist in safe passage.
Specifically, the crossings "perceive" the presence of a pedestrian on one of the two sides of the roadway and automatically activate strong lighting, special illuminated signs, and flashing lights on the roadway.
