Detailed description (English): “Open Streets – Bucharest, Urban Promenade” is an annual initiative of the Bucharest City Hall, organized through ARCUB and PROEDUS, that transforms central streets into pedestrian zones every weekend from April to October. In these car-free weekends, citizens and tourists can enjoy concerts, street performances, parades, children’s workshops, guided tours, and sports activities.
To make this possible, the Bucharest Public Transport Authority (TPBI) works in close partnership with the City Hall, adapting bus routes and ensuring smooth connections. For instance, bus lines 205 and 311 are rerouted every weekend during the events to maintain accessibility and support the flow of visitors.
Through this collaboration, TPBI actively contributes to promoting sustainable mobility and enhancing the cultural vibrancy of Bucharest.
