Detailed description (English): On 20 September, a conference on the development of cycling in Lithuania, called “Cycling Lithuania”, took place in Vilnius, Lithuania.
The Ministry of Transport and Communications organised the conference with the Lithuanian Cyclists' Union (LDB), the European Commission Representation in Lithuania and the European Cyclists' Federation (ECF).
The conference was attended by experts from Lithuania and abroad, representatives of ministries and their subordinate institutions, representatives of municipal administrations, other institutions and companies, business entities, and non-governmental organisations.
The Ministry of Transport and Communications aims and hopes that the conference “Cycling Lithuania” will become an annual event of national importance, summarising the activities of the development of bicycle transport, promoting cooperation and exchange of experience.
It is the first conference of its kind in Lithuania, bringing together cycling enthusiasts, representatives of responsible institutions and organisations, and municipalities to discuss issues related to the development of cycling in Lithuania.
The conference was attended by more than 120 representatives from 39 municipal administrations, as well as representatives of the Ministries of Transport and Communications, Environment, the European Commission Representation in Lithuania, cyclists' organisations, the Police Department, Cyclocity, the Lithuanian Transport Safety Administration, the Lithuanian Road Administration, and the Agency for Transport Excellence.

Objectives: The conference “Cycling Lithuania” was intended to discuss and evaluate Lithuania's annual progress in the promotion of cycling, to share the good practices of foreign countries and Lithuanian experts, to establish closer contacts between interested and responsible institutions, bodies and organisations, and to promote their cooperation.
The format of the conference was chosen to meet the needs of the prominent participants - representatives of municipal administrations: a strong emphasis was placed on the examination and discussion of practical issues related to the planning, design and construction of cycling infrastructure. Participants had the opportunity to take part in a technical bicycle tour, assessing Vilnius' progress in the development of cycling infrastructure.
