Detailed description (English): Cycling to COP30: global COP30 bike ride to put the bicycle at the heart of climate solutions
On May 14th 2025, a remarkable international citizens initiative took off: the COP30 Bike Ride, a gigantic international cycling relay to the UN Climate Conference (COP30) in Belém, Brazil. The ride calls attention not only to the urgency of climate action, but also to a concrete, proven solution that is too often overlooked—the bicycle.
As the COP30 bike ride rolls through Asia, Europe, Africa and South America, it connects local communities, city officials, and cycling advocates to champion the role of cycling in reducing transport-related CO₂ emissions. Along the way, the team will engage with municipalities and cycling communities to collect concrete commitments and letters of intent for improved cycling infrastructure and policy in the years ahead. The COP30 Bike Ride puts the spotlight on cycling as a serious climate strategy—not just a lifestyle choice.
This ride isn't just symbolic. It's a mobile campaign to push for real policy change—on two wheels. In every city the relay visits, we will try to meet with local stakeholders to discuss their plans for better bike lanes, safer streets, and integrated mobility, and gather public commitments for stronger cycling policies.
Everyone is welcome to join. It is a common effort to complete the relay to Belem! Whether you ride for half a stage, a full day, or the entire journey to COP30, your presence helps amplify the message: cycling is part of the solution, and climate-friendly cities start with better bike policy.
Target group(s): Municipalities and regional governments
