Detailed description (English): On September 19, 2025, the Region of Central Macedonia and the Hellenic Institute of Transport (CERTH/HIT) co-organized the first Local Stakeholders’ Meeting of the REFOCUS project, co-financed by the INTERREG EUROPE 2021–2027 programme. REFOCUS aims to support local and regional authorities in designing fair, participatory, and environmentally friendly mobility policies, by introducing decision support tools that foster low- and zero-carbon transport.
The meeting gathered representatives from municipalities of the Thessaloniki Metropolitan Unit, OSETH, and HIT, creating a platform for dialogue and needs assessment. Key challenges identified included the lack of specialized staff, insufficient technological tools and data collection, and the need for stronger cooperation among stakeholders. Good practices were also presented, alongside the Region’s strategic directions for Sustainable Mobility, focusing on upgrading the Thessaloniki Sustainable Urban Development Observatory into a Coordination and Innovation Hub, and preparing the Metropolitan-Regional SUMP of Central Macedonia Region.
Detailed description (original language): Η Περιφέρεια Κεντρικής Μακεδονίας και το Ινστιτούτο Βιώσιμης Κινητικότητας και Δικτύων Μεταφορών (ΕΚΕΤΑ/ΙΜΕΤ) συνδιοργάνωσαν στις 19 Σεπτεμβρίου 2025 την πρώτη Τοπική Συνάντηση Εργασίας του έργου REFOCUS, που συγχρηματοδοτείται από το πρόγραμμα INTERREG EUROPE 2021-2027. Το έργο αποσκοπεί στην ενίσχυση των τοπικών και περιφερειακών αρχών ώστε να σχεδιάζουν συμμετοχικές και περιβαλλοντικά φιλικές πολιτικές μετακινήσεων, αξιοποιώντας εργαλεία υποστήριξης αποφάσεων για χαμηλές ή μηδενικές εκπομπές άνθρακα. Στη συνάντηση συμμετείχαν Δήμοι της Μητροπολιτικής Ενότητας Θεσσαλονίκης, ο ΟΣΕΘ και το ΙΜΕΤ. Καταγράφηκαν βασικές ανάγκες όπως η έλλειψη εξειδικευμένου προσωπικού, η ανάγκη τεχνολογικών εργαλείων και δεδομένων, καθώς και η ενίσχυση της συνεργασίας μεταξύ φορέων. Παράλληλα παρουσιάστηκαν καλές πρακτικές και οι στρατηγικές κατευθύνσεις της ΠΚΜ για τη Βιώσιμη Κινητικότητα, με έμφαση στην αναβάθμιση του Παρατηρητηρίου Βιώσιμης Αστικής Ανάπτυξης σε κόμβο Συνεργασίας και Καινοτομίας και στην προετοιμασία για την εκπόνηση του Μητροπολιτικού-Περιφερειακού ΣΒΑΚ της Περιφέρεια Κεντρικής Μακεδονίας.
